Second graders will study the Mojave Desert.
To further investigate this topic, the next take home project will be a Mojave Desert animal diorama. The goal of this project is for the student to become an expert on the animal assigned in order to teach the rest of the class about the animal. Part One is researching the animal, Part Two is making the diorama, and Part Threeis presenting the animal to the class.
Part One: Research- The student will need to research five important/interesting facts about the assigned Mojave Desert animal. He or she will be teaching the rest of the class about the animal; therefore, the most important and/or interesting facts should be found. All writing must be in complete sentences. The sentences can be neatly handwritten or typed. The facts should be placed on the bottom of the diorama with the references.
Part Two: Diorama- The diorama will include the desert animal that was researched and its surroundings. A diorama is created out of the board provided and other household items (paper, fabric, yarn, glue, construction paper, glitter, sequins, buttons, paint, crayons, markers, twigs, wiggly eyes, etc…).
Diorama Requirements:
____ Use diorama board provided
____ Name of animal (on the front, base extension)
